Laura Lawson

Mrs. Lawson was born and raised in Mansfield, Texas, and began studying music (piano lessons) at the age of 8. Four years later, Laura encountered an opportunity to learn to play horn, and found a new musical passion by doing so. Following her education in MISD, Laura began her college studies in music education at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, TX. In 2011, she continued her studies in music at Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL. She graduated with honors from FSU’s College of Music with her degree in Music Therapy & Music Performance, as well as an emphasis in Music in Special Education & Psychology, and full certification to perform NICU Music Therapy.
Upon completion of her degree, Mrs. Lawson opened her business, MusicMatters, LLC. She provides music lessons, masterclasses, mock-auditions, solo preparations, holiday events, horn camps, along with many other services for her students.

A few years following, Mrs. Lawson founded the CorDallas Horns, a Non-Profit Organization dedicated to providing horn and music education to the next generation of young hornists. CorDallas Horns provides music at churches, weddings, parties, funerals, as well as coordinates and runs the Summer Horn Camps in the DFW Metroplex. Laura and her husband reside in Texas with their outgoing and bubbly dog, Mally.

Joshua Lawson
Private Lesson Teacher
Prior to his service as a Musician in the US Army Bands, Joshua completed his Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from the University of Texas at Arlington. He has taught Private Lessons & Masterclasses for over 10 years, and is a reputable instructor in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. He has had multiple Low Brass Students move on to become Professional Musicians, Music Educators, as well as participants in College Marching Bands, Concert Ensembles, along with Community Groups.

Charles Kelly
Private Lesson Teacher
Mr. Kelly is currently the Director of Bands at Wolf Lake Middle School. Mr. Kelly has held the positions of Director of Bands JR Arnold High School (2016 - 2018) and Eau Gallie High School (2018 - 2021), and he was the Associate Band Director at Freedom High School in 2022. He is an active member of the Florida Bandmasters Association, Florida Music Educator Association, and Kappa Kappa Psi Music Fraternity.
He graduated from the American Band College at Central Washington University with his Master's Degree in Music Education, and from Florida State University where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education with a certificate in Special Music Education. While pursuing his undergraduate degree, he was a member of the concert band, symphonic band, swing machine, Marching Chiefs, Seminole Sound, and Brass Machine. He served as one of the drum majors for the Marching Chiefs (2015) and also led the indoor marching group Brass Machine (2014 and 2015). He now lives in Ocoee, FL with his wife Carol Kelly and their adorable dog Daisy.
